My Freelance Work

Maribel Steel is a 2017 “Top 100 Freelance Blogger” on Feedspot.com. She was awarded a High Commendation in the WriteAbility Fellowships (2017) for her proposed “Touching Landscapes” travel book.

As a professional freelance writer, she previously wrote as an expert on Vision Loss for Verywell.com (About.com network).

Maribel has written over 200 column pieces, creative nonfiction short stories, personal essays and memoir stories that have been published online, in print journals, Anthologies and as Audio podcasts.

Maribel is one of the international judges on a panel for the Accessible Books Consortium (UK) International Excellence Awards for Accessible Publishing which is presented at the London Book Fair. She was also part of the editorial team of Sparx Journal, Society of Women Writers, VIC in 2017.

She writes for VisionAware (The American Foundation for the Blind) as a peer advisor and International Correspondent and mentored new writers to craft their stories in her 10 week “Write Your Memoir” course (2016) at U3A Wheelers Hill, Victoria.
